Richard D North welcomes you to his blog. (It links to my old site, now archived.) I am a right-winger, in love with the free market and arguing against the soft-left, liberal, green, PC consensus. Oh, and I'm a conflicted softie. A bit hippy and arty round the edges too.

Richard,
This is a review worth waiting for, and not just because of the encouraging things you say about An Ordinary Soldier. It was a pleasure to read. I am especially reassured to hear you believe the book smells of authenticity. That is certainly a tribute to Doug and his writing.
You might be interested to know that as of this afternoon (18th August 2010) Doug is five days away from being deployed back to Afghanistan for a third time. The Times is hoping he will find time to blog for them whilst at the front. Judging by how busy he was on his earlier two tours this might be slightly optimistic!
Best wishes,
Phil
