Slave ankles manacles

GE-C comments:
"These were made to make a lot of noise if the slave escaped. These were made in West Africa, in copper or brass. A friend told me that an acquaintance had them for sale. The vendor told me that he had them from his father who was a colonial officer or some such in Africa. He only sold them to me once he realised I wouldn't sell them on."
