"That's a proper blackamoor figure. You would have found that in grand houses. The Venetians liked these and made them from the 1750s - this one is late Victorian, there ought to be a pair. They should be a pair looking at each other.

"The black and white married couple on the table - they started to be made when black and white people married. I got it off a table in car boot."
